According to a Her Zindagi report, during that time the actress charged around Rs. 50 lakhs per film. For her 1994 movie, Hum Aapke Hai Koun, the actress had charged a higher pay than her co-star Salman Khan. According to the Her Zindagi report, the actress’ pay for Hum Apke Hai Koun was Rs. 2.7 crores, which was much higher than Salman Khan’s.
Back in 2015, there was quite a hustle when it came to gender equality. One of the news reports that had everyone happy and interested was when Anupam Kher had announced that Madhuri Dixit had indeed earned more money than Salman Khan. A lot of fans were pretty happy to hear that.
According to an India Today report, Salman Khan had later denied Anupam Kher’s statement. He mentioned that ‘The actor was quoted as saying, “It’s all about what people want to see. The busier you get, the more people want to see you, that’s how your price increases.’
The Indian Today report also showed the Salman had commented that ‘If you can pull off a solo hero or solo heroine film on your own and the producers, exhibitors, and distributors make that money then the producer doesn’t have any problem sharing that money with you. So you can’t demand, you need to command that.’
