Lorde says quitting social media was the “most difficult thing” she’s ever done.

The Solar Power hitmaker no longer uses social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and even YouTube, and has stated that giving up social media was ‘horribly tough’ for her since it first made her feel ‘disconnected’ from the world.

“I felt like my brain wasn’t working very well anymore,” she explained. “It was excruciatingly difficult, the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. I was really grumpy. I felt completely distant. But that’s how my life is right now.”

Lorde, on the other hand, has acknowledged being a member of the ‘community’ on the New York Times Cooking app.

“I go on the New York Times Cooking app and I look at the comments,” she said during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. “That’s turned into a form of community for me. And then you have all these strange little anecdotes. Someone says, “When my husband gets home from work, I cook this for him. And he makes a living doing this.” And you go, “Ahh.”

“Every now and then, you’ll get some strange detail,” says the narrator.

Meanwhile, Lorde recently stated that removing herself from social media has been ‘divine,’, particularly in terms of her mental health.

“It’s been lovely, I truly appreciate it,” Lorde remarked. “I’m a quiet, sensitive individual.”

She continued saying: “It’s a lot of information, and I see how I was simply pummeling myself with headlines and thoughts from other people all day, and it didn’t leave me much room to think or brainstorm. I’m glad for that right now.”

However, the Royals singer admitted at the time that she now finds it difficult to keep up with her pals without a presence on social media platforms such as Instagram.
