I can never ever fill the shoes of Irrfan Khan sir - Vicky Kaushal on 'Sardar Udham'

Vicky Kaushal is one of the most talented and phenomenal actors in the Hindi entertainment industry. The last few years have been superb for the ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ actor as some strong and commendable performances helped him cement his place in the industry as a commercially successful A-lister actor. The actor recently sent shockwaves with his work in ‘Sardar Udham’ and many critics have already called this as Vicky’s career-best performance till date.

While everyone is enjoying Vicky in the role of Sardar Udham, not many people know that late actor Irrfan Khan was the first choice for director Shoojit Sircar. During an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz, when Vicky was asked about the pressure of having to replace someone of Irrfan Khan’s stature, he was quoted as saying,

‘Well, to be honest, there would have been tremendous pressure on me as a performing artist had I looked at it that way. Because let’s face it, it’s impossible for me or anyone to ‘replace’ someone like Irrfan Khan sir. I can only talk about myself and here, I have only tried to do the best I can possibly do as a performer. No matter how good it is, it can never be at the level of late Irrfan sir. He is at a different level altogether. So, why think about something that’s not possible? I can never ever fill the shoes of Irrfan Khan sir. But yes, since I was entrusted with the responsibility of playing a role that was earlier offered to Irrfan sir, I did realize my responsibility.
