Here is Wamiqa talking exclusively to IWMBuzz.com about the film, working with Rajkummar Rao, and more.
How did you enjoy being part of the comedy genre in Bhool Chuk Maaf?
The experience of working in Bhool Chuk Maaf has been amazing. I enjoyed the shoot process, and am happy with the opportunity got to explore the genre of comedy. This was one genre I so wanted to work in, and glad that the film came my way. Working with great actors on this set gave an amazing feeling. We improvised a lot and delivered spontaneous reactions while shooting. There was a space to work as well as relax and have fun.
Shooting the time loop concept in the narrow lanes of Banaras was fun. I have earlier heard of the time loop stories only in the West, and to have one in India is good.
Take us through the experience of working with Rajkummar Rao?
Rajkummar Rao is an amazing actor. I went in with an initial fear which was eased by him. He made me very comfortable on the set. Our offscreen camaraderie was great, and this will surely reflect in our onscreen chemistry.
Take us through your role?
Titli is content in life. She dances well and has the personal and undeterred goal of getting married. She is a person with no big expectations from life. Playing a simpleton like her was fun.
What are your personal thoughts on marriage?
I have never thought of that!! I will think about marriage only when I desire to have kids. As of now, my goal is to play a range of characters.
The movie has a time loop phenomenon. What can viewers expect?
Shooting the time loop concept in the narrow lanes of Banaras was fun. I have earlier heard of the time loop stories only in the West, and to have one in India is good. India is diverse in culture, the personalities of people and of course, our film’s characters and their unique traits, in combination with the loop concept, have come good. I am excited to watch this genre in this film.
The film shows old-school romance. How different was this when compared to being part of a modern-day romantic subject?
Yes, you can call Bhool Chuk Maaf the very example of ‘desi romance’. The love story starts with fights and confusion. The love story shown here is pure. Yes, you can term it old-school romance too. It was very different when compared to the love tales prevalent in today’s time.
Which are your upcoming projects you look forward to the most?
With hopeful eyes, I look forward to audiences accepting Bhool Chuk Maaf well. I am as of now, happy with the moment I am in. Yes, there are projects in the pipeline, but there is time for that.
