It’s easy to assume that Alia Bhatt fell in love with Manish Malhotra’s creations when she made her Bollywood debut because the renowned designer created all of her ensembles for the actress’s debut film, Student Of The Year (2012). Since then, whether it was for promotional occasions or celebrity-studded weddings, the actor has virtually exclusively turned to his creations whenever she needs an Indian traditional attire.

Bhatt has produced a spectacular appearance in every silhouette offered by Malhotra, demonstrating that he is, in fact, one of her favorite designers in everything from complex lehengas and saris to fuss-free anarkalis. She wore a yellow floral sari by the designer earlier this year to the Ambanis’ yearly Ganesh Chaturthi puja, teaming it with a strapless pink shirt to highlight the pink blooms printed across the drape. For a friend’s wedding in Delhi, she also chose a blue Manish Malhotra pre-draped sari. By forgoing tradition, Bhatt gave her outfit a contemporary twist by layering her custom-made drape over a similar sharara.

The celebrity also wore a Manish Malhotra sari to the pre-engagement sangeet celebration of Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta in Mumbai. She opted for a tonal pink brocade dress with light pink pleats, a bright pink pallu, and an embroidered gold border. Like his saris, Malhotra’s wedding-ready lehengas have consistently garnered Alia Bhatt’s support. The star wore an all-white Manish Malhotra lehenga with gold embroidery to Ridhi Malhotra’s wedding reception back in 2015, and she also looked great in a blue Manish Malhotra lehenga with a boxy white blouse for Shahid and Mira Rajput Kapoor’s Mumbai reception the same year.

The actor attended Isha Ambani’s wedding in December 2018 while wearing a modest blue and white lehenga ensemble embellished with floral and geometric elements. Additionally, Bhatt wore another romantic lehenga designed by the couturier for Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s pre-wedding sangeet reception in St. Moritz, Switzerland: a pink ensemble made up of a pink sequined top and a floral lehenga skirt in a lighter hue. The star has always loved lehengas in particular, but she’s never been afraid to use a daring color palette when choosing Manish Malhotra pieces. As an illustration, consider the lime green brocade dress she wore to a Diwali dinner in 2017.

The actor appeared in a variety of Manish Malhotra outfits while on the promotional circuit for Bhatt’s 2019 movie Kalank. Not surprising, given that the designer also made her clothes for the movie. At a Delhi event, the actor nailed the yellow trend with a vibrant kurta and sharara pair and championed white ethnic wear with an ivory Anarkali from the spring/summer 2019 collection of Manish Malhotra. We adored her cheeky yellow and light green Manish Malhotra kurta combo, as well as the black Anarkali with sequins she was observed wearing at the time. Need more?
