Kardashian, 41, opened up to The New York Times during a recent interview about her decision to lose 16 pounds in three weeks so she may attend the 2022 Met Gala wearing Marilyn Monroe’s famous “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress.

Kardashian said to The Times that she believed doing so was no different than an actor rehearsing for a movie after receiving heat for telling Vogue about her extreme weight loss to fit into the gown, which included cutting out carbs and sugar.

She remarked, “To me, it was like, ‘OK, Christian Bale can do it for a movie role and that is acceptable. For a role, even Renée Zellweger put on weight. To me, it’s all the same.”

But it wasn’t simple to get into the old dress. “It didn’t fit me when I tried it on. Give me three weeks, I commanded. Today, I had to shed 16 pounds,” Kardashian acknowledged.

“It was really difficult. It resembled a role from a movie. I was adamant that I would fit in. About three weeks ago, I last had any carbohydrates or sugar. After the Met Gala, we’re having a pizza and doughnut party back at the hotel,” she added.

Monroe reportedly had to be sewed into the dress, which was created by Jean Louis and initially cost $12,000, before her highly erotic performance for President Kennedy on May 19, 1962, at a Madison Square Garden fundraiser, barely three months before she passed away.
