In today’s time, where justice often feels like an uphill battle, Bandar, produced by Shivie Pandit and Gaurie Pandit, mirrors the harsh realities unfolding around us. Though not everyone may personally relate to the story, all will understand the pain, frustration, and helplessness that arise when the justice system fails. A Thought-provoking drama that navigates the cruel consequences of a broken justice system, where truth struggles to prevail.

Plot

The gripping crime thriller follows a tale of Samar, played by Bobby Deol, who is a singer and actor. With a dull phase in his career at the age of 50, Samar looks for a partner, and in the pursuit, he turns to dating apps where he finds Gayatri, played by Sapna Pabbi. Their journey together begins with a healthy relationship, but things soon take a dark turn with their partnership facing issues.

With Gayatri’s growing possessiveness, Samar slowly ends all connections with her. Things were going straight until Gayatri spots Samar with his new girlfriend, Khushi, played by Saba Azad. And this sets the stage for the drama ahead as Gayatri’s possessiveness turns deadly, with her becoming revengeful now. Gayatri then accuses Samar of rape, which leads to his imprisonment. While Samar’s sister, Sanya Malhotra, and her lawyer friend, played by Riddhi Sen, give their all to prove his innocence, but as we say, “Ladki Ka Palra Bhari Hota Hai,” Gayatri always wins. And the big question arises: will Samar ever get justice? The answer is best experienced when you watch it yourself.

Direction

Like we know, Anurag Kashyap never fails to surprise, and Bandar is no exception. The director, with ease, showcases the dark realities of the justice system and prison. With a dark theme, intensity, and an unsettling world, the director brings this tricky story to life. He keeps the narration engaging, while the cinematography needs special applause, as for a film like Bandar, the suitable background setting is a must to make it feel authentic and genuine. The pacing is fine, and the changing dynamics of the protagonist’s life keep viewers hooked while making one wish never to fall into such circumstances.

Performances

Bobby Deol effortlessly commands attention as Samar. He delivers one of his career’s best performances, showcasing his maturity, control, vulnerability, strength, and emotions. The moments he breaks down due to the broken justice system, he makes the viewer feel his pain, and that’s goosebumps-inducing. The actor balances his performance in every aspect of his layered character.

Saba Azad as Khushi brings softness while carefully exploring her layered role. Sanya Malhotra rules with her strong performance. Fighting for justice, whenever she appears, she balances the fire, strength, and emotions all at once. Sapna Pabbi serves as the main catalyst in the storyline. Indrajith Sukumaran contributes to the intensity of the drama, and Jitendra Joshi looks promising. Raj Shetty, Ankush Gedam, Riddhi Sen and Nagesh Bhonsle as supporting characters elevate the experience.

To sum up, in short, Bandar isn’t just another film for entertainment; this one makes you think and question the harsh realities of the justice system. The film keeps viewers engaged with the unsettling world of prison, exploring love, relationships, consequences, possessiveness, emotions, and revenge in an addictive watch.
