The podcast pinch is getting too over-the-head in current times. Not that we are against the entire podcast format, but it raises issues when senior figures from the industry slide in and make loose, blunt comments about other industry figures. For once, someone does that without any counter-verification, it sends ripples across the industry, hurting the figure’s reputation and the sentiments of fans and admirers. Very recently, we came across one such example: Prashant Narayanan called Kartik Aaryan a ‘terrible actor,’ further downplaying his achievements, stating that he had earned his success through ‘luck’ and his ‘parents’ blessings.’

Kartik Aaryan’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. He has painstakingly forged his own path in the industry, building a passionate fanbase through sheer dedication and talent. To label him as ‘terrible’ is not only unjust but needlessly caustic, while dismissing his accomplishments as mere ‘luck’ smacks of bitterness and envy. As for attributing his rise to ‘parents’ blessings,’ surely, that is a universal wish for everyone striving to move forward in life.

Apparently, when you appear on a podcast and someone as senior as Prashant Narayanan is on it, we are sure viewers will look up to his personal journey; however, when someone as senior as he chooses to put up personal attacks on other actors in the industry, what we miss in the moment is ‘grace.’

Earlier, we saw it for Allu Arjun, as well. The controversy erupted when brand strategist Kaveri Baruah, appearing on the Sweekriti Talks podcast, alleged that his team circulates an extensive document outlining “42 dos and don’ts” to be followed before any professional engagement. However, the situation extends beyond Allu Arjun; several other illustrious actors in the industry have found themselves ensnared in similar controversies.

We live in an era where the responsibility that comes with a public platform cannot be overstated. While healthy debate and critique are vital for any creative field and artists, it is equally important to exercise empathy, especially when discussing individuals’ journeys and achievements in public. As listeners and viewers, we must remain vigilant, questioning not only the veracity of bold claims but also their intent. At the end of the day, respect and grace—both in conversation and in criticism—are what elevate every discourse.
