Rai revealed that he has spent the last two years working on the screenplay and hinted that an official announcement may not be far away.
“I’ve been writing Oh My God 3 for the last two years. Hope you will hear the announcement soon. The story is better than Oh My God 2. Our attempt is to entertain the audience and the respect for this franchise stays intact,” he said.
Released in 2023, OMG 2 tackled the subject of sex education through a courtroom drama led by Pankaj Tripathi, with Akshay Kumar and Yami Gautam playing pivotal roles. The film earned praise for blending social commentary with mainstream entertainment.
The sequel had also sparked a debate over story credits after Paresh Rawal claimed he had not been acknowledged for his contribution. Producer Ashwin Varde later clarified that the script was officially registered in Amit Rai’s name and that Rai remained the sole credited writer of the film.
Rai is now awaiting the release of his next film, Ohh My Dog, a family drama centred on the emotional bond between a young child and a stray dog. The filmmaker recently rescheduled its release to August 7, opting to avoid a box-office clash with Spider-Man.
Given Akshay Kumar’s key role in the previous two films, fans are eagerly waiting to see if he will team up with Rai again once OMG 3 is officially announced.
