Veteran actor Ashish Vidhyarthi sat down for a heartfelt interview with podcaster Shubhankar Mishra. During the conversation, the National Award-winning actor talked about his marriage, divorce after 24 years, the pain he experienced, and more.

When Shubhankar asked him if he is fearing something, the veteran actor nodded yes. “When my marriage broke after 24 years, it was a very painful period for me,” Vidyarthi revealed.

Explaining the emotional toll, he noted that he was 55 years old when the divorce went through. At that age, he felt completely shattered and defeated. “You feel like you’ve lost it all. Everything you have invested your life into with someone is suddenly gone, and that person is no longer with you.”

Reflecting on the consequences of divorce decisions, Ashish emphasized that people make false assumptions and allegations and tarnish one’s image. He shared that these people also try to decide what one’s future will look like.

The actor shared that when he expressed a desire to find love and remarry, he was met with heavy resistance and unsolicited advice from society. “People suggested that I should just sit back and watch my son grow up, claiming that was my only job now. They kept asking why I felt the need to marry again at this stage.”

Defying the expectations placed on him, Vidyarthi said he told people not to write his “life’s resignation letter.” While he was emotionally broken at the time, he maintained a strong desire to live his life to the fullest once again. He urged the public to practice empathy rather than mockery. He emphasized that the grief one suffers during a breakup, a divorce, or the death of a partner is entirely real and should never be judged from the outside.
