Priyadarshan’s upcoming film Bhooth Bangla will offer an innovative experience for viewers who enjoy horror-comedies. The movie, which features Akshay Kumar as its main actor, takes place in the mystical town of Mangalpur, which exists between supernatural legends and chilling tales.

The story centres around an old, abandoned mansion known as the “Bhooth Bangla” or Haunted House. Residents of the town believe that the mansion carries a curse that makes the town known as a place where “nobody gets married.” The area is haunted by an entity or curse which has become a local superstition.

The plot introduces “Vadhusur,” a mysterious character whom the villagers treat with great fear. The film teaser includes warnings that “Vadhusur will come,” which creates suspenseful moments that also feature comedic elements. The story follows a team as they enter the notorious haunted house, with Akshay Kumar as the protagonist.

The team discovers traditional horror elements within the mansion through encounters with ghostly shadows and supernatural occurrences, and a demonic presence that appears from an ancient tree. Bhooth Bangla distinguishes itself through its blend of Indian mythology and black magic elements, including citations from the Vedas and the Mahabharata. Priyadarshan has emphasised that the film is an original project and not a remake.

The film reunites Akshay Kumar with Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, promising fans the slapstick humour and comedic chemistry they’ve enjoyed in the past. Visually, Bhooth Bangla features a fog-filled forest, a giant bat, and a throne carved with demonic faces, creating an eerie yet entertaining setting.

Bhooth Bangla aims to deliver pure horror-comedy, combining supernatural intrigue with lighthearted moments to offer audiences a unique cinematic experience.
