Even if the lockdown is lifted in the near future, shooting won’t resume in the Mumbai studios until the first week of July. According to informed sources, it is unlikely that actors and technicians would want to resume immediately when the lockdown is lifted.

“They’d first want to see what the situation is like after lockdown, whether the expected spike in the number of infected will happen, and if so how steep would the spike be? These are questions that need to be answered before shooting can be resumed,” says a prominent voice from the entertainment industry.

In the meanwhile film federations in Mumbai are waiting for a meeting with the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Uddhav Thackeray to request him for permission to resume post-production work on incomplete films.

A spokesperson from a federation says the prospects of resuming work on unfinished films is not looking too bright. “Representatives of the Marathi film industry met the Maharashtra CM recently. He was not too encouraging.”
