The imminent release of Yash Raj Films’ Bunty Aur Babli,Ram Gopal Varma’s D Company and Prabhu Solomon’s Haathi Mere Saathi have all been postponed indefinitely and many more are to follow. Thanks to the increasing cases of Covid19 specially in Maharashtra.

The hardest hit is this week’s release Saina , the badminton bio-pic on Saina Nehwal which got caught willy-nilly in the newly-revised Covid guidelines. With the malls now having to drastically reduce their number of shows, Saina finds itself on a homeless refugee’s turf.

While the Saina director Amole Gupte said that all release plans were up to the co-producers T Series, a source from T Series said their bosses were considering a re-release of Saina on the OTT platform.

The next release to face the brunt of the Covid crisis is the Amitabh Bachchan-Emraan Hashmi suspense thriller Chehre which is scheduled to release on April 9 but is now likely to be postponed .

Says Chehre producer Anand Pandit, “We will talk to all concerned stakeholders once the Holi festival is done and take a conscious call in the interest of fans and cinema-goers.”
