The much-awaited trailer of Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming film Daayra released today, August 31. The makers of the film built hype for the 2-minute 19-second trailer by releasing posters and unveiling the lead cast’s first looks. But now that excitement has faded, the trailer rings hollow.
Inspired by true events, the upcoming film Daayra, directed by Meghana Gulzar, unfolds in the aftermath of a heinous crime that becomes the center of discussion. And that leads to two different investigations.
Amid the crime drama, the search for answers and truth intensifies as two senior police officers, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, embark on a mission. They explore a system with opposing views on duty and justice in a case that challenges the notion of right and wrong.
The short clip looks intriguing at first, introducing Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran as cops, the former going up against the latter in a gritty investigation, sparking curiosity.
But as it progresses, the trailer dulls the excitement, making it seem like a similar Bollywood cop drama produced over the years. Despite its promising premise, intense face-off, and a very sensitive topic, the trailer fails to deliver enough substance or emotional depth, leaving the much-anticipated thriller somewhat underwhelming.
While the trailer seems to have missed the mark, it raises concerns for the future.
