Bollywood queen Deepika Padukone is undoubtedly a slayer, whether on-screen or off-screen. Apart from her stunning acting, she is known for her strong opinions, which she doesn’t voice regularly, but whenever she does, she makes sure they are heard. And this time, the diva raised concerns about the rising pollution in Mumbai and its poor air quality, strongly demanding answers and asking how this can be okay.
On her Instagram handle on March 12, Deepika shared a screenshot of a graph of Mumbai and its nearby locations that shows air quality. The photo shows Mumbai’s AQI at 153, which is unhealthy and polluted.
Expressing her concerns, Deepika in the text wrote, “This City (& its children) are choking!” Asking questions about the poor air quality, she asked the BMC department for help, saying, “How is this okay? @my_bmc @mybmchealth help (with joined hands emoji)”.

Over the past few months, Mumbai has witnessed fluctuating air quality levels, with several areas recording concerning pollution readings. Environmental experts have often pointed out factors such as construction activity, vehicular emissions, and changing weather conditions as key contributors.
Earlier, Hina Khan also raised concerns over Mumbai’s high pollution and even said she feels like coughing a lot and sometimes feels choked. And now Deepika has also expressed her concern.
But will this change the situation in the city, or will further ignorance cause major consequences?
