Director Sudha Kongara took legal action, approaching the Madras High Court over unpaid dues. Under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, the director is seeking over rupees 8.39 crore unpaid fees for her film Parasakthi.

In her plea, Sudha asks the court to hold the release of Idhayam Murali, stating that Dawn Pictures, the makers of Parasakthi, produced it. In addition, she asked that Parasakthi not be broadcast on satellite until the matter is resolved.

In the matter, Justice Kamaresh Babu has asked the production house to respond by July 8 and has ordered Dawn Pictures not to release Parasakthi on satellite.

The counsel submitted that the total consideration due to Kongara, as per the agreement, was 15 crore, and GST was payable separately, bringing the total to 17.70 crore. However, only 9.31 crore had been paid, leaving ₹8.39 crore outstanding.

Parasakthi is a film set in the backdrop of Madras in 1960. The film follows the socio-political landscape in Tamil Nadu during the anti-Hindi agitations. The film stars Shivakarthikeyan in the central role with Sreeleela and Ravi Mohan also playing main characters. The film was earlier released on January 10, 2026.
