Kartavya, the latest released film on Netflix, has been garnering attention with Saif Ali Khan returning in action mode. Director Pulkit, who has directed Kartavya, in an exclusive interview with IWMBuzz, talked about the film, highlighting that it’s a special film for him, with a revelation that Saif Ali Khan was his first choice for the role of SHO Pawan.
In an exclusive interaction with IWMBuzz journalist Sweta Gupta, when asked, the director of Kartavya revealed that it is his dream project and if Saif Ali Khan was always his first choice for the film or if he had others named in his mind, Pulkit revealed, “No! Kartavya is actually a very special film; every film is special, but Kartavya is very special for many reasons, be it Red Chilies, Netflix, or Saif Ali Khan—the excitement could be for anything.”
Sharing about bringing Saif Ali Khan on board, the director stated, “Yes, Saif Ali Khan was my first choice, and I got lucky to have him on board.”
When asked about the advantages and challenges directing Saif Ali Khan as the audience are loving how every character have lived up to the expectations, director Pulkit said, “I personally feel, as a director your work is to bring good artists onboard together then you don’t have to direct them but share them the thought and then actors like Saif, the experience they bring with themselves you don’t have to direct them, if you are able to share your thoughts clearly to them then they do their work the best themselves.”
He further highlighted, “My main work was to bring all the characters together, where my half work was done, and the other half work they did it themselves.” He appreciated all the actors, from Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, to Saif Ali Khan and others.
When asked about the film Kartavya’s main drama, the dilemma between Dharma and Kartavya, Pulkit emphasized that the idea of inspiration was from the Mahabharat, how Arjuna was torn between Dharma and Karma. He said that he wrote the storyline relating to the Mahabharat as per today’s generation.
