Farmers Protest halts shootings

Punjab, specially Chandigarh and Patiala, had become favourite shooting hotspots for Bollywood in recent times. It seems Punjab may become out of bounds for shooting units , at least for a while.

Two major films units were asked to halt shooting in the last few weeks.

In the last week of January the shooting of the Aanand L Rai production Good Luck Jerry featuring Janhvi Kapoor was disrupted as protesting farmers demanded that Janhvi and her colleagues Deepak Dobriyal, Mita Vashisht, director Siddharth Sengupta, etc, and join the protests.

Janhvi is back in Mumbai . The shooting of her film is likely to be relocated from Punjab.

We now hear that the new Bobby Deol starrer Love Hostel directed by Shankar Raman and produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chilies, came to a “grinding halt” as protesters wanted Punjab da Puttar Bobby to join in the protests.

Needless to say, the producers are now looking at relocating their shooting.

A source close to Good Luck Jerry confided, “It’s unfair to expect Janhvi to join in a political agitation. She is too young and inexperienced to understand the situation.”
