Filmmaker Shakeel Noorani, known for directing Bade Dilwale, Joru Ka Ghulam and others, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 33-year-old actress. Reportedly, the director pursued the actress into coming to his house in Mumbai’s Malwani in the name of discussing an upcoming film and allegedly assaulted her.

The reports further say that the 73-year-old director drugged the actress and threatened her, according to the police complaint. Following this, the director was presented before the Borivali Holiday Court and later sent into police custody till August 12, 2026.

Producer and director Shakeel was arrested by the police on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from a Mahabaleshwar farmhouse after being on the run for 40 days for allegedly raping an aspiring actress repeatedly over the last four years and threatening to release videos of the assault and inducing a miscarriage.
