Imtiaz Ali is all set to release his next film in June 2026. The director has scheduled his upcoming project for cinema release on June 12 2026, according to his recent announcement. The production team has postponed their unnamed movie, scheduled to premiere on Baisakhi in April 2026, because they need additional time to finish extensive shooting, which has reached the post-production stage.
The film features Diljit Dosanjh, rising actors Vedang Raina and Sharvari, and experienced performer Naseeruddin Shah, who plays a major character. This marks the second partnership between Ali and Dosanjh after their successful 2024 biographical film Amar Singh Chamkila.
The film has generated fan excitement through its return of the original creative team who worked on the 2011 film Rockstar, which includes director Imtiaz Ali, Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman and lyricist Irshad Kamil. The collaboration has previously delivered some of Bollywood’s most memorable soundtracks.
The film tells a story of love and longing, set in 1940s Punjab during India’s Partition. Ali has designed the story to show a broad range of events which will reveal the nation’s core identity through its characters.
