What is it like to yearn? To yearn is to sense a pain that flows through the marrow of your bones—it is longing, that is as wild as the sea. Stretching you, drawing you toward something—someone—just out of reach. Imtiaz Ali remains the eternal bridge, connecting tales of distance and desire, weaving the threads of love and longing.

We watch his films and find a strong resonance—always. It has returned once again with Main Vaapas Aaunga (I Will Return), where he collaborates with Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, and the legendary Naseeruddin Shah.

The teaser alone is a poem—a call to the soul. Flames that the teaser ignites are hums with the promise of return—inviting us to remember, to hope and above all to yearn. Speaking about it, Imtiaz Ali stated, “This film has a big heart. It has a large canvas yet is very personal. It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country.”

“Main Vaapas Aaunga” is produced by Window Seat Films, Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, Mohit Choudhary, and Shibasish Sarkar, and is presented by Applause Entertainment. The music is composed by A.R. Rahman, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga (I Will Return) is a cross-generational love story set against the backdrop of the 1947 India-Pakistan Partition. The film is all set to release in the theatres on 12th June, 2026.
