Meta has brought Bollywood into the AI spotlight by announcing Deepika Padukone as one of the voices for its latest AI assistant. The move is part of Meta’s broader strategy to humanize its artificial intelligence tools by using familiar, trusted voices.
Deepika’s voice will be available as a conversational option for Meta AI users across multiple countries, including India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The voice model, trained on her speech patterns and tone, is being released under the “IN-EN” (Indian English) language option.
This launch is not limited to smartphones and desktops. Deepika’s voice is also integrated into the new generation of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The glasses allow users to interact hands-free with Meta AI, making voice interaction a more personal and natural experience.
Meta is not the first to experiment with celebrity AI voices, but the inclusion of a leading Indian actor signals the company’s intent to grow deeper roots in the Indian market. Alongside Deepika, Meta has launched other celebrity voice models globally, including those of Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, and Naomi Osaka.
The announcement follows Deepika’s recent appointment as India’s first Mental Health Ambassador by the Union Health Ministry, noting her growing public role beyond films.
Given that, Meta is betting that trusted celebrity voices can help bridge the gap between humans and machines — making AI more accessible, familiar, and engaging to users worldwide.
