Becoming a famous actor in Bollywood is not easy. Fame, as we know, is a double-edged sword. Bollywood celebrities go through some extreme highs and lows in their careers, making their open-book lives both a boon and a bane. Before making it big in the movies, some of them led a simple life, away from the limelight. They studied something completely different from their current field of career or did odd jobs, like being a watchman and waitering, to make a living for themselves. Today, we bring a list of Bollywood actors who did odd jobs before becoming famous.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui: The talented gem studied at The National School of Drama, but very few people know that he worked two jobs to go to this prestigious institution. He worked as a watchman for almost two years, and prior to that job, he worked as a chemist in a petrochemical firm. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar.

Akshay Kumar: The Khiladi of Bollywood worked as a waiter, chef, travel agent, jewellery salesman, and martial arts teacher before becoming a part of Bollywood.

Boman Irani: The veteran star worked in the capacity of support staff at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. Following this, he also helped his mother run a bakery.

Ranveer Singh: The powerhouse of talent worked at advertising agencies like Ogilvy and Mather and J. Walter Thompson as a copywriter before entering Bollywood. After he made his debut with Band Baaja Baarat, he never had to look back.

Amitabh Bachchan: The megastar wanted to become a Radio Jockey with Doordarshan. However, he was rejected because the channel didn’t like his voice. He later joined Shaw Wallace, a shipping firm as an executive. He even worked as a freight broker for a shipping company called Bird and Co.

Rajinikanth: The Thalaiva worked as a bus conductor for Bangalore Transport Service (BTS). He started doing stage plays only after he was offered to act in mythological moral plays by a Kannada playwright and director Topi Muniappa.

Arshad Warsi: The talented actor was a door-to-door cosmetic salesman. Later he worked in a photo lab. As he had a keen interest in dancing, he received an offer to join Akbar Sami’s Dance group in Mumbai, which started his dancing and choreographing career.
