Director Lawrence D’Souza, who is known for his work in films like Saajan, Dil Ka Kya Kasoor, Sanam Teri Kasam, and others, in a recent interview discussed Bollywood romances in the past from Ajay Devgn and Karisma Kapoor to Zeenat Aman and Mazhar.
During an interview with journalist Vickey Lalwani, when the interviewer asked about one of his well-known films, Sangram, in which the cast Ajay Devgn and Karisma Kapoor also got romantically involved, the director laughingly said what he can do if people find romance in his films only.
Further explaining the coincidence, Lawrence revealed that Tajurba was his first film as a photographer, where Smita Patil and Raj Babbar were the cast, and they were shooting in Gorai (the famous Mumbai beach location where Tajurba was shot) for 10 to fifteen days. There, Smita and Raj’s love story began as they fell in love; then again, it was our film.
Next, he mentioned Bhavani Junction, which starred Zeenat Aman and Mazhar Khan, and during the shooting they fell in love, so in that what’s my fault is there.
When asked about Ajay and Karisma’s bond and shooting, the director revealed both of them used to be normal on the sets, while Ajay used to sit even when his shots were not there.
Lawrence D’Souza directed the films Sangram and Saajan and served as cinematographer/director of photography for Tajurba and Bhavani Junction.
