NH Studioz known for a vast library of films has taken a major step in strengthening its content portfolio by acquiring the long-term rights to a celebrated catalogue of films from Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films. The acquisition, led by Shri Narendra Hirawat and Shreyans Hirawat, is said to be worth a three-figure crore sum, underlining the company’s growing focus on building one of India’s largest film libraries.
The deal brings several acclaimed and commercially successful titles under the NH Studioz banner, including Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, Mission Kashmir, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Parineeta, 3 Idiots, Shikara and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, among others.
With this acquisition, NH Studioz’s catalogue now exceeds 5,000 films across multiple languages, The company has been steadily expanding its footprint in the entertainment business through strategic acquisitions and new production ventures.
The Rajkumar Hirani-directed blockbuster is set to return to cinemas in a digitally mastered version on September 4, 2026, giving audiences the opportunity to relive the iconic story of Rancho, Farhan and Raju on the big screen once again.
The release will coincide with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s birthday that is on September 5.
Aamir Khan’s Lagaan had re released in cinemas last month marking 25 years of the film.
