The highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD may see a major casting change. Sai Pallavi has emerged as the main lead to take over Deepika Padukone’s lead role in the film.

The director Nag Ashwin is currently negotiating with a well-known actress to play the lead role, Sumathi, in the Prabhas film, according to industry sources. The reports state that production with the new cast will start in February 2026, which indicates that a decision will be made soon.

Deepika Padukone left the project because of reported creative differences and scheduling issues. Her departure has sent ripples through the industry because she recently lost her role to Triptii Dimri in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. The development creates uncertainty about her involvement in various Pan-India movies.

Sai Pallavi remains the strongest for the Kalki sequel, as of now. According to reports, Nag Ashwin plans to cast Pallavi in a new female-led project if the replacement does not go through. Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra are in talks for the role, according to fans and insiders.

The creators of Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 have not announced any official information about the actor changes. Fans eagerly await confirmation as the sequel to the 2024 sci-fi phenomenon moves forward with production.
