Priya Kapur, his third wife, has now approached the Supreme Court seeking access to confidential documents related to Sunjay Kapur’s divorce from actor Karisma Kapoor. The divorce took place in 2016 and involved key decisions regarding finances and child custody.

According to court filings, Priya Kapur has requested certified copies of all records linked to the divorce proceedings between Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur.

A bench led by Justice A.S. Chandurkar will examine the request in a chamber hearing. The court will decide whether such confidential and sensitive documents can be shared with Priya Kapur. Since divorce records often contain private personal details, the Supreme Court will carefully consider the legal grounds of her application before passing any order.

This development comes amid an ongoing and intense legal dispute involving Sunjay Kapur’s vast estate, reportedly valued at nearly ₹30,000 crore. After Sunjay Kapur’s sudden death in June last year, a will surfaced that has now become the centre of a major legal controversy. The will allegedly leaves almost the entire estate to Priya Kapur, excluding his children from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor, as well as his mother and siblings.

Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira Kapur and Kiaan Kapur, have already approached the Delhi High Court to challenge the validity of the will. In their petition, the siblings have claimed that the will is “forged and fabricated.” They have alleged that the signatures on the document do not belong to their father and have raised serious concerns about its authenticity.

Samaira and Kiaan Kapur have further accused Priya Kapur of colluding with the attesting witnesses to prepare false documents. Based on these claims, they have requested the High Court to allow them to inspect the original will. The document was earlier submitted to the court in a sealed cover in September last year.

In addition, the children have sought an interim injunction against Priya Kapur. They have asked the court to restrain her from selling, transferring, or dealing with any assets belonging to Sunjay Kapur until the matter is fully resolved. The case has drawn significant attention due to the estate’s high value and the involvement of prominent names.

Sunjay Kapur was a well-known businessman and the former chairman of auto components giant Sona Comstar. He passed away at the age of 53 after suffering a sudden heart attack while playing polo in England. His untimely death shocked both the business and social circles.
