Rahul Roy recalls the frightening days after his stroke

For Rahul Roy, November 2020 brought a sudden health crisis that changed his life completely. The actor suffered a cerebrovascular stroke while he was shooting for LAC – Live The Battle in Kargil. Following the incident, he was taken to Srinagar and subsequently shifted to Mumbai.

Rahul was admitted to Nanavati Hospital, where he spent time in the ICU. The initial phase of his recovery was filled with uncertainty, as the actor did not know how much of his normal abilities he would regain.

Remembering that difficult phase, Rahul told Free Press Journal, “The only thing I was skeptical about was my speech problem because of the brain stroke which I had in 2020 when I was shooting in Kargil. But Karanvir was supportive throughout. After my brain stroke, I didn’t even know if I would be able to walk or talk again.”

His journey back to normalcy took time. With his family standing by him, Rahul worked steadily towards his recovery. The experience also made him rethink several aspects of his lifestyle and approach towards his health.

Eight medicines and major lifestyle changes

Following the stroke, Rahul made significant changes to his daily habits. The actor, who was earlier a heavy smoker and consumed non-vegetarian food, completely changed his diet after the health setback.

Medication has also become an important part of his everyday schedule. Rahul revealed that he takes eight medicines after breakfast each day as he continues to manage his health.

Talking about his present condition, he said, “Every day after breakfast, I have 8 medicines. But things are much better now than before.”
The actor has also started getting back to professional commitments. After a challenging period, Rahul is gradually returning to acting and will be seen in the upcoming series Super Badshah.

Rahul Roy’s journey from Aashiqui to Bigg Boss

Rahul Roy became a household name with his debut film Aashiqui in 1990. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt and featuring Anu Aggarwal alongside him, the film became a huge success and made Rahul one of the most popular stars of the early 1990s.

He subsequently appeared in movies such as Junoon and later ventured into reality television. Rahul participated in the first season of Bigg Boss in 2007 and went on to win the show. He defeated Carol Gracias in the finale and received the ₹1 crore prize.

His career has seen several different phases over the years. More recently, Rahul appeared in Kanu Behl’s psychological drama Agra, which released in November 2025.

Rahul Roy prepares for his next project

Rahul is now focusing on returning to the screen with Super Badshah. The upcoming Kuku TV series will see him take on the role of an underworld don, with Karanvir Bohra also featuring in the project.

After facing a period where he was uncertain about something as basic as walking and speaking again, Rahul’s gradual return to work marks another chapter in his journey.
