Trade analyst Komal Nahta has expressed confidence in the box office prospects of the much-awaited mythological epic Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor. With anticipation surrounding the film continuing to build, Nahta believes the big-budget spectacle has the potential to register an opening-day collection exceeding ₹100 crore in India alone.
Commenting on the decision to open advance bookings early, Nahta described the move as a sound strategy, given the scale of the project and the growing interest among audiences. He pointed out that Ramayana is not a conventional film release but a cinematic event with the potential to attract viewers across markets.
“I’m pretty excited, and I think the world is very excited for Ramayana,” Nahta said, reflecting his optimism about the film’s reception.
The trade expert also observed that excitement surrounding the project has been increasing steadily, strengthening expectations of a record-breaking opening. According to his assessment, the film could cross the ₹100 crore mark on its first day at the Indian box office, although the actual figures will depend on audience turnout.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The ambitious adaptation of the ancient Indian epic is being mounted on a grand scale, with elaborate visual effects and an extensive production design aimed at bringing the mythological story to the big screen.
Produced by Namit Malhotra, the film has generated considerable attention for its casting, technical scale and ambitious storytelling. The project is planned as a two-part cinematic presentation, making it one of the most closely watched upcoming Hindi film releases.
With Nahta forecasting a potentially historic start, all eyes are now on whether Ramayana can translate its pre-release buzz into the massive opening-day numbers being anticipated by the trade.
