Good news for Ranveer Singh fans as the actor gets a big relief after The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) withdraws the non-cooperative directives against the actor in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 dispute due to Ranveer’s sudden exit from the project.
During the press conference on June 3, FWICE withdrew the orders issued against Ranveer Singh after he sent a legal notice. The decision to withdraw the actions against Ranveer was taken after an intervention by the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), the Producers Guild of India (PGI) and Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA): “We are taking back our non-cooperative directives with immediate effect after a request by IMPAA, the producers’ guild and CINTAA.”
FWICE president said, “We have been told that we should all sit together with the producers’ body and take an appropriate decision where the producers, directors, and the actor don’t face any issue.”
Also highlighted that, “No one has won or lost in this matter. Our legal department will respond to his legal notice.”
FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer on May 25, after Farhan Akhtar and his producing partner Ritesh Sidhwani filed a complaint with the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA).
On the other hand, during the press conference, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit criticised director Ram Gopal Varma over his remarks on The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) where he said to ban FWICE and not Ranveer Singh—”BAN ‘FWICE’ and not @RanveerOfficial. The so-called ‘BAN’ or non-cooperation in the style of Gandhiji will eventually become a BIG FAT JOKE on FWICE. This isn’t industry or worker protection, like they are claiming. It is just pure performative muscle-flexing by an extremely outdated union system, desperately trying to hold on to its grip. Whether it claims to speak for over 5 lakh or 50 lakh workers, the brutal truth is that most of those lakhs don’t even know the internal facts of the dispute between the two parties,” Ram Gopal Varma wrote in his social media post.
Reacting to this, Ashoke slammed Ram Gopal Varma, saying, “FWICE is not a bully; it’s a serious federation. Ram Gopal Varma used abusive language about us. We would like to tell the world today: RGV owes more than a crore to the technicians. The case has been going on since 2017.”
Further speaking on the matter, he said, “He (Ram Gopal Varma) wrote a letter to the federation. He asked for support from the federation to give him time to make the payment. He said he would pay by March 2019. He has still not paid. We demand an apology from him for using abusive words against the federation.”
