Tatsuya Nakadai, one of the most renowned Japanese actors, best venerated for his work in the 1985 epic drama Ran, has passed away at the age of 92. According to reports the actor died on November 8, and was undergoing treatment for pneumonia.

The actor was born in 1932. He has worked with well-known directors like Masaki Kobayashi and Akira Kurosawa. As per Deadline, Masaki gave the actor his breakthrough role after spotting him at a store where the actor worked as a sales assistant.

Nakadai had left a legacy with his shining acting career. However, apart from that, the actor also founded the Mumeijuku acting school in 1975, the school gave the world some of the brightest stars, including Koji Yakusho who bagged the best actor in Cannes in 2023 for his work in Perfect Days.

Nakadai got crowned with the Order of the Rising Sun in 2003. He was then named as a Person Of Cultural Merit in 2007. He even received the country’s highest honour, the Order Of Culture in 2015.

He shall be missed.
