The recent song “Sarke Chunar” (which has two titles, “Sarke Chunar” and “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke”) from the upcoming pan-Indian movie KD – The Devil has sparked a public dispute involving Bollywood stars Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi. The song, which became available on March 15 2026, faced immediate backlash and led to legal investigations due to its offensive material.
The main dispute centres on the song’s lyrics and choreography which some members of the public and advocacy organisations have classified as “sexually explicit” “vulgar” and “obscene.” The public reaction escalated into a social media backlash which prompted people to demand stricter regulations on film music especially for songs which children should be allowed to hear. Advocate Vineet Jindal submitted a formal complaint to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, requesting a ban on the song to safeguard young listeners.
The public demanded that KVN Productions should remove the Hindi version of “Sarke Chunar” from YouTube so they complied with this request. The production team is currently developing a new version of the song that will feature entirely new lyrics to resolve the existing issues.
The movie KD – The Devil is a historical action drama that takes place in 1970s Bengaluru and derives its story from real events which occurred in the city’s criminal underworld. The film features Dhruva Sarja as the main character and includes Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, and Nora Fatehi who appears in a special item number. The film will open in theatres on April 30 2026 in five languages Kannada Hindi Tamil Telugu and Malayalam.
