Dhanush marks with his ferocity as Shankar in Tere Ishk Mein. We saw him in Raanjhanaa earlier, as Kundan Shankar, etching a narrative to swear by—and so much that, everything conspired to re-release the film with a different ending (backed by AI). We see this salient comparison drawn between the two, both traced to the nuances of the deadly abyss of love; viewers are now tasked with deciding where to hang their ardour. Aanand L Rai directed Tere Ishk Mein. Marking the third collaboration with Dhanush, after Raanjhaana and Atrangi Re, Tere Ishk Mein gives a taste of the love that comes with inevitable scars and fire.

As you take a glance at the story, you feel the power, the madness, the dead ends of how far love can bring two souls. Vendetta gets a firm nod in the story. The pain Kriti (Mukti) and Dhanush both carry as lovers is what can get you on the emotional ride. Dhanush plays Shankar, who shoulders the screenplay, establishing the drama that one expected before heading to get their tickets. Kriti Sanon, however, takes it over as the baddie; she created an uproar at every instance. Both of them shaped and served the narrative, which empowers both love and the grudge that arises from it, and the supporting cast completes it.

The metaphorical wind within the names, however, is what one should not miss. Mukti and Shankar. Even if you watch the trailer, you get a hint of the emancipation the two names convey here. One that nurtures emancipation, the other beholds the cosmos entirely. Love, apparently, does both. Somewhere it becomes the dance of the two, the merge of the two. Tere Ishk Mein, however, aligns with contemporary chronologies to suit the audience’s taste buds. Urging to set fire to everything for love’s sake—because why not? If you don’t fight for your love, what kind of lover are you?
