After a six-month postponement, Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited final film, Jana nayagan, is all set to arrive in cinemas across the world this Friday. The actor-turned-politician’s swansong has generated significant anticipation among fans, even though parts of the film reportedly surfaced online ahead of its release.
Trade analyst Girish Johar believes the leak has not dented the film’s prospects, adding that the makers have factored in the situation.
He said, “Jana nayagan is tracking well across the globe and seems like it will open 100 crores plus. It will be more than 6000 screens release across languages.”
Johar also highlighted the scale of the release and the encouraging response from markets beyond Vijay’s traditional fan base.
“The excitement level is very good, surprisingly in Hindi market too. The buzz there. Fan clubs are also there. Jan Neta is also tracking good. The best part is that despite being a non-holiday release, it’s getting good numbers. The craze is huge.”
According to Johar, Vijay’s political journey has helped him connect with a wider audience, adding to the curiosity surrounding what is expected to be his final film.
He said, “I think people have been tracking Vijay after he became a chief minister and the things he has been doing for the society and there’s a positive rub off of that. So, people are keen as they know it’s his last film so why not get entertained. So, people are excited.”
With strong advance buzz, a massive global rollout and the emotional pull of Vijay’s farewell film, Jana nayagan is expected to make a strong impact at the worldwide box office.
