Sangeetha Sornalingam, the spouse of actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay, has submitted a new interim request to the Chengalpattu Family Court, seeking permission to remain at their Neelankarai matrimonial home during the divorce trial.

British citizen Sangeetha requested an interim order through court filings made today, which allows her to remain in their shared home because she has no other place to stay in Chennai. She claimed her right to the Neelankarai property based on her need for the property and her rights as a spouse. The petition also seeks financial support for herself and the couple’s two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha, according to reports by Deccan Herald and India Today.

Sangeetha’s main divorce petition, filed on February 27, 2026, under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, has led to this new development. The petition allegedly contains infidelity claims which involve an extramarital relationship with an unnamed actress that allegedly became known in 2021, together with accusations of mental abuse.

The Chengalpattu Family Court has mandated Vijay to appear personally at court proceedings on April 20 2026. Unverified media reports indicate that Vijay is considering an out-of-court settlement involving an alimony package estimated at ₹250 crore. The two parties involved in the settlement discussions have not issued public statements about the ongoing negotiations.

The legal dispute has attracted public interest because Vijay holds prominent positions in both Tamil cinema and politics. The court will provide additional information as the case develops.
