After fighting off a humbug court case asking for a stay order, Chakra, the Vishal Krishna Tamil actioner about cyber theft opened to roaring crowds in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Breathing a sigh of relief Vishal says, “It’s been a traumatic time for me and my team. Until Thursday we didn’t know if we would be able to release on Friday. Thankfully the honourable court ruled in our favour. I think it’s time such humbug litigation against the release of films is completely stopped. If anyone has a problem with a film , they must come forward with it earlier , not when the film is on release.”

Chakra is the fourth film in the post-lockdown phase after Vijay’s Master, Ravi Tejaa’s Krack and Vijay Sethupathi’s Uppena to hit bull’s eye.

It’s been an uphill battle for Vishal. “First we got badly hit by Covid and then when we were finally ready for release, the court case happened. But as usual justice prevailed and we were able to release Chakra on time,” says Vishal happily.

His happiness is multiplied by the fact that this is his first Hindi release. “Chakra is dubbed into Hindi. This is my Hindi debut and I am quite excited about it. Indian cinema has effectually broken the language barrier . So many recent South Indian films have become pan-India hits, the Tamil Master being the latest.I think it’s time we stopped looking at non-Hindi as regional cinema.”
