Chandan Roy Sanyal hails from a Bengali family which had no relation with films whatsoever. Yet, he made his debut in the industry with a small and minor role in Rang De Basanti. He followed up the great work with some quality projects in the Bengali film industry with movies like Aparajita Tumi and Prague. But without any doubt, the turnaround happened in his life with Kaminey. So, when IWMBuzz asked Chandan about the same, he said and we quote,
“I had no idea that the character would end up being so popular. My initial thoughts were just that I am working with a big director like Vishal Bharadwaj and it is nothing less than an honour. So I just wanted to make my impact with my performance. But I certainly didn’t expect the response to be so great. Kaminey is one film that I feel is ahead of its time and even if it released today, it would have done well. It was the turnaround of my career.”
