Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is set to be honoured with the first-ever RK Laxman Award for Excellence on November 23, 2025, in Pune. Known for his remarkable performances and selective appearances, Aamir Khan will receive this prestigious recognition for his contribution to Indian cinema at a grand ceremony dedicated to the legendary cartoonist R.K. Laxman.

The event will take place at the MCA Cricket Stadium, beginning at 5 PM, and will feature a special live concert by Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman. The evening promises to be a blend of music, art, and nostalgia — celebrating both cinema and the timeless legacy of R.K. Laxman, the creator of India’s beloved character, The Common Man.

R.K. Laxman, one of India’s most iconic cartoonists, is remembered for his witty and insightful cartoon strip You Said It, and his contributions to the classic TV series Malgudi Days, written by his brother R.K. Narayan. Over his lifetime, Laxman was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and an honorary doctorate from the University of Mysore.

Aamir Khan, who is known for keeping away from award functions, last attended one in 2017 when he accepted the Vishesh Puraskar for his performance in Dangal — after being personally invited by the late Lata Mangeshkar. Now, after several years, the actor will once again make an exception to accept the RK Laxman Award, marking a rare and meaningful appearance.
