Noted author turned filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee has been nominated for Best Debutant Director for his Bengali feature film Binodiini Ekti Natir Upakhyan at the prestgious 56th IFFI, Goa under Indian Panorama. Mukherjee has been officially invited for the screening and award ceremony in Goa on 28th November. Produced by Prateek Chakravorty and Dev Adhikari, the film has bagged prestgious awards in USA and UK.

“This is an overwhelming moment for me as a filmmaker. Needless to say that International Film Festival of India, is one of the biggest and prestigious festivals in globe. Getting nominated as Best Debutant Director for my film Binodiini Ekti Natir Upakhyan, comes as a big surprise for me,” says director Ram Kamal Mukherjee, who won his first National Award for his short Hindi feature Ek Duaa in 2023.

Binodiini Ekti Natir Upakhyan is based on life of Bengal’s legendary theatre thespian Binodini Dasi. Rukmini Maitra plays the lead, while veteran actors like Kaushik Ganguly plays Girish Chandra, while Bollywood star Rahul Bose plays Ranga Babu and Chandan Roy Sanyal plays Sri Ramkrishna Paramhans. Music composed by Sourendro-Soumyojit, the film boasts of soulful songs by Shreya Ghoshal, Rekha Bharadwaj, Suchismita and. “I am thankful to my producers for having faith in my vision, and my lead actor Rukmini;who stood like the rock of Gibraltar in making this journey possible,” says Ram Kamal.
