Bringing to life one of the most fascinating mythological entities ever depicted on screen, Sonakshi Sinha steps into the role of Dhan Pisachani in Jatadhara — a character born of divine energy, mystery, and cosmic balance.
Producer Prerna Arora, who helmed the creative research and visual ideation, shares,
“Dhan Pisachani, in the truest sense, is the divine form of energy. While the directors had a certain idea of her look, I visualized her differently. After several discussions, we found a middle ground — making her more cinematic and visually magnetic while staying true to her mythological essence. We spent almost three months researching her aura, jewellery, and overall design to ensure she embodies both grace and power. Pisachani is neither a Goddess nor a Devi — she is an energy that holds both good and evil, beauty and menace, in equal measure.”
The concept of Dhan Pisachani traces back to the legend of Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Ocean), when Lord Shiva drank the deadly Halahal poison to save the universe. The drops that fell upon the earth are said to have birthed female entities known as Piśāchanīs.

Director Venkat Kalyan adds,
“We wanted Pisachani to look celestial yet fearsome — a divine force that commands attention. She is not a figure of worship or horror; she represents the duality of creation itself. Her look, her gaze, her aura — everything was designed to make the audience feel both awe and reverence.”
Costume designer Mohit meticulously worked on every detail of Sonakshi’s attire, ensuring her transformation feels authentic and timeless. With three months of deep research, every ornament and texture mirrors the opulence and mystery of Dhan — wealth, energy, and cosmic balance.
Sonakshi’s on-screen transformation, combining mythology with cinematic beauty, promises to be one of the most iconic visual highlights of Jatadhara.
