As the countdown to August 26, 2026, reaches a fever pitch, actor Saqib Saleem just poured a massive bucket of high-octane fuel onto the already roaring fire that is the anticipation for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Taking to his Instagram stories for an interactive ‘Ask Me’ segment, he didn’t hold back when a netizen quizzed him about the upcoming pan-Indian mega-spectacle. The actor went full fanboy, praising not just the mind-bending scale of the film, but also bowing down to the screen presence of its leading man, the ‘Rocking Star’ Yash.

“Great thoughts about both those things (Toxic and Yash),” Saqib said, matching the high energy of his followers. “The trailer of Toxic looks banging – love the ambition of the film, the scale of the film, the cinematography of the film, so really excited about when I can see the film. So 26th August is when it’s releasing. So fingers crossed—really excited for it!”

For Saqib, the excitement is personal. His sister, powerhouse performer Huma Qureshi, is set to essay the fierce role of Elizabeth – a character designed to completely disrupt the narrative grid in this dark gangster epic.

Switching over to the man driving the mayhem in the film, Saqib tip-toed into full reverence for Yash. “And Yash… What can I say about Yash urf Rocky bhai urf Raya now?! Massive massive admirer of your sheer skill and your sheer mindset. I’ve seen a few interviews of Yash—the way he connects with his fans. I think I’m a huge admirer. So all the best to the team.”

Teasing his sister Huma, he adds, “I get to hear about Toxic and about Yash because my housemate apparently is in the film. What’s her name? Uma? Somebody called Uma. Huma is in the film so best of luck to her also.”

Saqib is far from alone in his obsession, as the global cinema space has not witnessed hype of this magnitude in years. The unprecedented frenzy stems first from the historic return of ‘Rocking Star’ Yash, who is making his monumental comeback to the silver screen following the phenomenon of K.G.F: Chapter 2. Under the visionary direction of Geetu Mohandas, Yash is shedding his iconic Rocky Bhai persona to step into a gritty, morally ambiguous dual role as Raya.

This psychological crime epic is being mounted on a staggering budget estimated between ₹500 to ₹1,000 crore, positioning it as one of the most expensive and ambitious Indian films ever made. Adding to the allure is the film’s transportive, lawless setting: the coastal landscapes of Goa between the 1940s and 1970s, tracking the chaotic vacuum left by crumbling Portuguese colonial rule and the ruthless rise of international drug cartels. With Hollywood stunt maestro JJ Perry orchestrating high-octane action sequences and a powerhouse ensemble cast featuring Nayanthara as Ganga, Kiara Advani as Nadia, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, Tara Sutaria as Rebecca and Rukmini Vasanth as Mellisa, Toxic is a potential box-office tsunami ready to re-write Indian cinematic history this August 26.
