Actress Sheetal Kale, who portrayed Nargis, a transgender character and Sushmita Sen’s best friend in the JioHotstar web series Taali, recently went on a spiritual journey that turned out to be both emotional and life-changing. After narrowly escaping the tragic Kedarnath helicopter crash, the actress visited Haridwar to seek divine blessings and peace — a decision that, she says, brought her closer to faith and spiritual strength.
Sheetal had been planning her first visit to Kedarnath for a long time, but just before the trip, her mother’s health took a turn, and she had to cancel her plans. That one decision unknowingly saved her life, as the helicopter she was supposed to take ended up crashing, she says, “If I had the time, I would have definitely been on that helicopter.”She adds, “That thought alone shook me.”
Talking about her visit to Haridwar, Sheetal shares, “It was a spontaneous decision. Since Kedarnath happened the way it did, I didn’t think too much — whatever is meant to happen will happen, and no one can stop it. I was very scared about going, and even my family was worried that something might go wrong, especially after the plane crash in Ahmedabad and the helicopter crash we narrowly escaped. There’s definitely fear, but again, what’s written in our fate will happen no one can stop that.”
Reflecting on her experience in Haridwar, Sheetal says, “We respectfully call her Ganga ji she is considered extremely holy, and the place itself holds deep spiritual significance. Devotees come with immense faith, believing in the sacredness and purity of Ganga ji.”
She adds,“We, the devotees, bathe in her waters with full faith. Many even drink it or take it home, believing in its holiness. Ganga water is considered sacred.”
Sheetal’s journey, from narrowly missing a tragic incident to reconnecting with her spiritual side in Haridwar, is filled with gratitude and reflection. Her words echo the power of faith, the value of life, and the deep peace that comes from surrendering to the divine. Through her experience, she reminds us that even in moments of fear or uncertainty, faith can be the greatest guide.
