Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday launched the India Today Tamil YouTube channel in Chennai, urging the media to ensure that “truth speaks louder.” The launch took place during the India Today Tamil Roundtable, which was inaugurated by Vijay and brought together prominent political, business, policy and entertainment personalities.
The event coincided with the completion of 100 days of Vijay’s government and marked his first major media interaction since assuming office in May following the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which made its electoral debut, emerged as a major force by winning 108 of the 234 seats in the state Assembly.
The Tamil Nadu Roundtable is set to feature discussions on the performance of the new government, major policy challenges and issues shaping the state’s political and economic future.
Former BJP leader K Annamalai, who left the party following the Tamil Nadu polls and subsequently launched an independent grassroots political initiative, will speak about his political journey and future plans in a session titled ‘Annamalai Beyond BJP’.
Sports Minister Aadhav Arjuna will discuss the government’s performance during its first 100 days, while the politically sensitive issue of delimitation will be debated by MDMK MP Durai Vaiko, Congress MP Praveen Chakravarty, BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan and DMK spokesperson Salem Dharanidharan.
The Roundtable will also feature a discussion on the long-standing Cauvery water dispute with PMK MP Anbumani Ramadoss. DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran will participate in a separate political discussion, while actor Dhruv Vikram is scheduled to appear for an exclusive session.
Beyond politics, the event will focus on Tamil Nadu’s economic growth, investment climate and key policy challenges. Issues including corruption, education, energy, finance and healthcare are also expected to feature prominently in the discussions.
With a mix of political leaders, policymakers, business figures and entertainment personalities, the Tamil Nadu Roundtable aims to provide a broad perspective on the state’s current political landscape and its road ahead.
