A photo purportedly featuring BTS’s V and BLACKPINK’s Jennie taken on Jeju Island, Korea, has been widely circulated in Korean media. Netizens are already questioning its veracity.
The reported photo originally surfaced on Korean online community websites such as Nate Pann on May 22. The photo went viral fast since it was supposedly taken in Jeju, where both idols had recently visited.
“This is a recent photo that was sent. It might be lookalikes, but it’s said to be a snapshot of two major idols. An OG idol member has been believed to have broken up with the female idol in particular. As a result, supporters appear to be more accepting of this snapshot as genuine. Many internet users now believe that the claimed photo of V and Jennie has been Photoshopped. The snapshot and a screenshot from an episode of BTS’s reality show BTS In the SOOP, in which V drove himself and fellow member J-Hope, have been compared by ARMYs. The compositions are very similar, allowing for the creation of a foundation for an edit.
While the woman in question is certainly wearing GENTLE MONSTER sunglasses, she does not have Jennie’s current hair color.
As a result, netizens are suspicious that the image has been altered. Nonetheless, there are other considerations to be made.
Some people don’t believe it’s been modified. They say the photo appears to be too real, and that there are too many discrepancies between V and Jennie’s shot and his photo with J-Hope. The backdrop and V’s clothes, as well as his hair, are noticeably different.
Others speculated that if the photo is genuine, it may be of celebrity impersonators.
