Just before noon today, Big Hit Music revealed that the music video for “Not Today” had achieved 500 million views. It took four years, six months, and thirteen days to accomplish the accomplishment.

“Not Today” is a song from BTS’s repackaged album “You Never Walk Alone,” which was released in February 2017. In the vein of BTS’s other tunes “FIRE” and “DOPE,” “Not Today” makes use of forceful and explosive sounds. The dramatic choreography, vast groups of synchronized dancers, and breathtaking scenery in the music video drew a lot of attention.
This has brightened my day. Jung Kook’s birthday present. This is one of my favorite BTS songs. For all of its beauty, meaning, and relevance, I believe the song and video are underappreciated. I wish this, along with Mic Drop, was already among the billion views.
Not Today is a song by South Korean boy band BTS from their 2017 album You Never Walk Alone, which is a repackaged version of their second Korean-language studio album Wings (2016). “Hitman” Bang, RM, Supreme Boi, June, and Pdogg wrote the song, with the latter of the five also handling production. Big Hit Entertainment released it as the album’s second single on February 20, 2017.
On May 10, 2017, Universal Music Japan released a Japanese version of the song as the B-side of a single album that also includes the Japanese tracks “Blood Sweat & Tears” (2016) and “Spring Day” (2017). Face Yourself, the band’s third Japanese-language studio album, featured the song (2018). “Not Today” is a synth-heavy hip hop and moombahton song with synth-heavy instrumentation. The words of the song address issues of injustice, corruption, and anti-establishment sentiment.
