Recreation of classic melodies has been a practiced theme in Hindi Cinema. While some people like it and others don’t, Mohit Chauhan falls in the category of those who do not like it majorly when it comes to songs of legendary singer Kishore Kumar.

Mohit Chauhan reveals that the only thought that comes to him, whenever he receives offers of recreating classic songs is, “Why should I do something, which already has such a high standard?”

He also says, “I have been asked to sing an iconic song sung by Kishore Kumar Sahab more than a couple of times… I didn’t want to do that remake.”

Asking him further he revealed, “You cannot compete with Kishore Sahab, how can you do that? It is blasphemy. I refused those songs. I don’t know if it has hurt my career. I don’t think like that. I don’t care about it actually,” he explains saying that, “But I have turned down such requests. I grew up listening to him and learning from him. He was almost like a Guru when it came to playback singing.”

Mohit Chauhan has given some big hits such as Yeh Dooriyan from the movie Love Aaj Kal, Sadda Haq from the movie Rockstar, and Matargashti from the movie Tamasha, also that people are good at remembering the original version too well.

The playback singer Mohit says “Apart from my music, the music of the early and mid-2000s, if it’s a good quality song, you have it on your playlist. Even when traveling in a car today, the FM plays a Kishore Kumar song, I know the lyrics to them, and I sing along. A good song always remains with you. There is no point in doing something which you don’t believe in,” he ends with this.
