Netizens are criticizing HYBE for allowing minor idols to dress inappropriately in its new female groups this year, LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans. The company’s sublabel ADOR recently received criticism for introducing children to its new girl group NewJeans. NewJeans are scheduled to debut on August 1, with members ranging in age from 14 to 17, despite the K-Pop industry’s growing contentious debate over the issue of underage idol debuts.

Many fans have noticed this because they believe it is wrong for kids to be introduced to a poisonous profession when they are not yet mentally ready to handle the responsibilities of having a career as an idol and are therefore not mentally prepared for such pressures. The unsuitable way frequently brings on such pressure that the entertainment industry frequently portrays young idols. For instance, overly sexualized fashion has put many idols, including those who are adults, in awkward circumstances. At the moment, ADOR and its CEO, Min Hee Jin, are facing criticism for the inappropriate fashion choices made by the members of NewJeans.

The girls were spotted donning questionable t-shirts, and striking suggestive poses that fans believe are out of character for the girls’ age. However, HYBE members ADOR and Min Hee Jin are not the only ones to face criticism for the fashion choices made by a recently formed female group. Despite two members being 15 and 16 years old, LE SSERAFIM’s debut single, “Fearless,” had a distinctly adult theme and approach. Kim Garam, who is 16, has left the group following bullying allegations.
