Awarapan 2 has been granted a UA certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), making it one of the few major August releases with a family-friendly certification.
In contrast, Batwara 1947, starring Sunny Deol, has reportedly received an A certificate, while Yash’s Toxic and Mirzapur: The Film are also widely expected to be certified A, given their violent and mature content. (The latter certifications remain subject to cbfc.)
This gives Awarapan 2 a distinct advantage at the box office. With a UA 16+ certificate, the film is accessible to a much wider audience, younger viewers accompanied by parents, and general moviegoers who may avoid adult-rated films. If the content connects with audiences, Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 has a strong opportunity to emerge as the preferred choice for family audiences during the August release window.
It maybe noted here that Awarapan 2 is truly a sequel as the story continues directly from the events that occurred in the 2007 film.
The film stars Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani and is directed by Nitin Kakkar. The film releases on August 14 and is produced by Vishesh Bhatt.
