BLACKPINK is currently the biggest K-pop girl group in the world. In fact, the idol group is taking up every ambassador position in high-end clothing and jewelry lines in addition to topping major charts both locally and internationally with their finest discographies.

Additionally, each member of the female group has their own influence and strength in the industry and on social media, setting them apart from other K-pop groups with their combined fame.

The four members, however, had to pay a price by giving up other things they wanted and “threading the needle” in order to stand where they are today before they could experience the prosperity and popularity that they currently enjoy.

Since their days as trainees, BLACKPINK has gone through waves and surges of hardships, but the group has persevered as a unit, and those challenges have only strengthened them.

Period Of Training

BLACKPINK members are some of the idols with a lengthier period of training, whereas other K-pop stars are fortunate to debut within months or a year. Nearly six years of instruction are required of Jennie, five years and three months for Lisa, five years for Jisoo, and four years and two months for Rosé. To be cast in YG Entertainment, they must compete against thousands of other hopeful recruits before becoming trainees. Rosé and Jisoo are 15 and 16 years old, but Lisa and Jennie were 14 and 14 years old, respectively, when they joined as trainees. They have to deal with the diet and demanding training regimens at a young age.

The ups and downs

As a full Thai, Lisa must struggle with the language barrier given that she is currently the muse and ambassador for prestigious companies like Celine, Prada, and BVLGARI. She could hardly speak Korean when she arrived in Korea, which made interaction with locals more difficult. While this was going on, Jennie, the first female solo artist to reach 500 million YouTube views and a Chanel ambassador, once chose the dark path and completely lost her confidence.

Scandals and Haters Review

After making their debut, they ultimately rose to the top and built a sizable and devoted fanbase. But as their popularity soars, the public’s focus is on them, which leaves them more open to trolls and scandals.

Lisa receives a lot of criticism from Knetz for being “ugly” and failing to meet the requirements of Korea. As a result, she is getting hurtful messages and death threats from haters. Jennie, on the other hand, received harsh criticism for dating and was called out for being a lazy member.

Suspension

Despite their fame, HIATUS BLACKPINK received the least amount of opportunities from their agency. This is due to the point that they take a year off before the release of their song “How You Like That,” making only sporadic appearances for their CFs and photo shoots.

Additionally, this causes BLINKs to lose their cool and put protest trucks in front of YG structures in protest at the label’s repeated postponements of the idol group’s comeback and other releases.
