Im Na-yeon, also known as Nayeon, is a South Korean singer who was born on September 22, 1995. As a winner of the reality survival television show Sixteen in 2015, she joined the South Korean girl group Twice, which is managed by JYP Entertainment. Im Nayeon, her eponymous extended play, will be her solo debut on the 24th of June, 2022.
Nayeon won a modelling contest as a child and was cast by JYP Entertainment (JYPE). Despite her mother’s initial opposition to her entering show business due to her young age, Nayeon attended the agency’s open audition on September 15, 2010, and was hired as a trainee. 6mix, a projected JYPE girl trio that never launched, added her to the lineup in 2013. She also appeared in the second episode of Dream High 2, a 2012 television series.
Nayeon took part in the reality television show Sixteen in 2015, which was a competition to find the members of a new JYP Entertainment girl group named Twice. She made the final roster as one of the nine successful participants. With the publication of their first extended play (EP), The Story Begins, in October, Nayeon made her formal Twice debut. She was rated the sixth most popular idol in South Korea in Gallup Korea’s annual music survey for 2017. She came in sixth place in the 2018 poll, with 6.7 percent of the vote. In 2019, she came in fifth place with 8.2% of the vote and was voted the ninth most popular female K-pop idol in a poll of South Korean troops who had completed their mandatory military service.
It was announced that Nayeon will debut as a solo artist on June 24 with her EP Im Nayeon.
